Henderson State Did What Good Teams Must Do
Henderson State beat Arkansas-Monticello 35–24. The Reddies did not produce the most explosive score of the day, but the result still matters. Henderson protected home field, moved to another important early win, and avoided the kind of conference loss that forces a program to chase the standings in September.
Arkansas-Monticello made the game competitive enough to keep the final margin at 11 points. But the Reddies found a way to close it, and closing games is a skill that becomes more valuable once the GAC schedule begins separating teams from the middle.
The next step for Henderson State is not to become Harding overnight. It is to continue stacking wins, protect home field, and make sure the conference’s top tier remains crowded.
A team does not need to dominate every opponent to become dangerous. It needs to win the games it is supposed to win and create a path toward the games that can change everything.
Oklahoma Baptist’s Offense Made Its Own Statement
Oklahoma Baptist beat Northwestern Oklahoma State 55–37. The Bison offense provided one of the loudest numbers on the Week 3 GAC scoreboard. Fifty-five points do not happen by accident, and they matter because Oklahoma Baptist entered the week looking for a response after the previous loss at Henderson State.
The win does not erase the 66–9 defeat to the Reddies. It does show that Oklahoma Baptist has an offense capable of changing the tone of a game and a season.
The next question is consistency. Can Oklahoma Baptist pair explosive offense with enough defensive control to make its next conference game less stressful? Can the Bison turn 55 points into a pattern instead of a one-week correction? That is the difference between a bounce-back win and a genuine reset.
East Central And Southeastern Oklahoma State Stayed In The Fight
East Central beat Southern Nazarene 35–24. Southeastern Oklahoma State beat Southwestern Oklahoma State 27–21.
Neither result will command the same statewide attention as Ouachita–Arkansas Tech or Harding–Southern Arkansas. Both matter because the GAC is not only decided by the teams at the top.
East Central found a way to win by 11 points, which keeps the Tigers in the early race and gives the program a useful result to build on.
Southeastern Oklahoma State went into the road environment at Southwestern Oklahoma State and left with a 27–21 victory. A six-point road win is exactly the type of result that can become more valuable in November than it appears in September.
The GAC is developing layers. Harding has the strongest early standard. Ouachita has the most important Week 3 Arkansas road win. Henderson State kept winning. Oklahoma Baptist reminded the league it can score. East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma State stayed connected to the race. That is what makes the next Saturday matter. The league is not waiting until October to create pressure. It is already here.
