Memphis Tigers Set to Extend Dominance Over UT Martin Skyhawks in Midweek Baseball Clash

The Memphis Tigers Baseball team is gearing up for an exciting midweek set as they host the UT Martin Skyhawks for back-to-back games at the renowned FedExPark Avron Fogelman Field. Fans are eagerly anticipating the 4 p.m. showdown on both Tuesday and Wednesday, with Tuesday’s game being especially accessible as it’s available for streaming on ESPN+.

Memphis, with a balanced 4-4 record, is riding high on the momentum from their recent performances. The home opener last week saw them dismantle Central Arkansas with a historic offensive display, as the Tigers smashed seven home runs and accumulated 12 extra-base hits to secure the victory in just eight innings. The staggering 14-4 win was a testament to their batting prowess, with Austin Baskin and Pierre Seals leading the charge with two homers each.

The Tigers’ bats remained ablaze through the weekend as they faced off against Bowling Green. Scoring 28 runs and clinching two out of three games, Memphis showcased their offensive depth and resilience. Brennan DuBose was particularly outstanding, batting .357 with a grand slam that contributed to his selection for the American Athletic Conference’s Weekly Honor Roll. His overall performance included six RBIs, five runs, and a highlight-reel straight steal of home.

The Tigers’ starting rotation, featuring David Warren, Luke Ellis, and Caden Robinson, has proven formidable, demonstrating their capability during the season opener and continuing their form into the series against Bowling Green. Despite a loss on Friday, the trio bounced back, with Robinson securing a win on Sunday, supported by Brayden Sanders and JT Durham’s stellar relief pitching.

UT Martin steps into Memphis with a 3-4 record, fresh from a series win over Brown. The Skyhawks showed their ability to dominate and edge out close games, but stumbled in the series finale. They’re a team that can’t be underestimated, though their record against the Tigers is 6-36, which includes a current 10-game winning streak for Memphis.

As the Tigers prepare to defend their turf, RHP Cade Davis looks to improve on his early-season performance, taking the mound for Memphis on Tuesday. UT Martin will respond with their right-hander Choyce Diffey, both seeking to set the tone for their respective teams in this early-season matchup.

With the first $2 Tuesday promotion of the season, fans can enjoy the game at FedExPark with an added incentive. As the Tigers aim to continue their dominance over the Skyhawks and build on their early successes, all eyes will be on whether Memphis can maintain their explosive offensive rhythm and tighten up their defensive game to secure another home victory.

Don’t miss the action as these two teams collide on the diamond, promising a thrilling display of collegiate baseball at its finest.
