Memphis Baseball – Memphis Claws Wolves In Come Back 7-6  Win 

Memphis Baseball {13-9} clawed out a come-from-behind win tonight, 7-6, at home, against Arkansas State {7-13} tonight. The Tigers would battle back twice to get the win in a great showing of effort and fight. We will look at how Memphis got the win, what coach Kerrick Jackson had to say post-game, and what is next on the schedule. How did the Tigers claw this win out? Let us find out. 

How Did Memphis Win?

The Tigers would trail early when the Wolves would take an early 2-0 lead. The Tigers would tie the game in the 2nd inning when Shane Cox would single to left field and Johah Sutton would score. Cameron Benson would get an RBI to the left which would score Jake Curtis to tie the game. Memphis would take the lead in the fourth when Cox would score on a wild pitch. Memphis would give up four runs to the Wolves in the fifth inning to trail 6-3.

The seventh inning would see the Tiger’s bats come alive as they would score four runs. Sutton would single up the middle and Brayland Skinner would get the first run of the inning on the scoreboard.  Curtis would hit a two-run homer to left field that would score Sutton to get the 2nd and 3rd runs in. The final run of the inning and game for Memphis would come when Josh Russell would score when Hansen would reach on an error from the Wolves. This run would put Memphis up 7-6 and complete the comeback. 

Hudson Ross would get the start for Memphis in the game which was the first of his collegiate career. Memphis would use five additional pitchers in the game Ross, Carson Stinnett, Glenn Green III, Luke Ellis, Jackson Lyons, and Dalton Kendrick tonight. Ellis would get the win for Memphis and Kendrick would come in and close out his 7th save of the season. 

What Did Coach Say? 

 “We had some up and down pitching performances and had some guys pick up some guys who were struggling a bit. Kind of up and down offensively as well but some guys come up with some timely hits. We played an all-around good game, and these guys are showing they have the ability to come from behind and make some things happen and we’re excited about that.” – Kerrick Jackson

What Is Next? 

Memphis will host Oral Roberts {14-8} for a three-game series this weekend. The Friday game is scheduled to start at 6 pm followed by Saturday, at 4 pm, and Sunday at 1 pm.
