In an exclusive conversation with 4 Star Sports Media, Memphis Hounds offensive coordinator Dustin Bauman made one thing clear: professional football in Memphis is not just arriving — it is coming with speed, purpose, and something to prove.

Memphis Hounds OC Dustin Bauman Sounds the Alarm: “This Is the Fastest Game Out There”
From the explosive style of play to the high-level talent emerging from tryouts, Bauman believes the Hounds are building more than a roster. They are building a product Memphis can rally around.
A League Built for Action
Bauman is still learning the ins and outs of the league’s rules, but what has already stood out to him is the tempo. After studying film and getting a firsthand look at how the game operates, he sees a brand of football designed to keep fans on edge from start to finish.
“My thoughts on the league so far is I’m still actively working on familiarity of the rules and what my do’s and don’ts are on the offensive side of the ball,” Bauman told us. “From the film I’ve been researching, the league has an attraction with the speed of the game and feeling like you’re right there in the action.”
That fast-paced identity could become the league’s greatest advantage. Even if it does not yet have the same national profile as leagues like the UFL, Bauman sees real upside with games expected on ESPN+ and a prime Saturday night slot at pm. For a city that embraces football, that kind of visibility matters.
Just as important, Bauman believes the on-field product will match the energy. After coaching tryout talent, he came away convinced the Hounds are drawing serious athletes — including several Memphis-area players who earned contracts. To him, that means fans should expect real talent, real urgency, and real opportunity for players hungry for another shot.
Why Bauman Believes in Memphis
For Bauman, taking this job was about more than football strategy. It was about stepping into a meaningful opportunity with the right people and the right purpose. A coach shaped by mentors such as Chris Smith, Rodney Saulsberry, James Thomas, and Ronnie Thompson, Bauman said the call to join the Hounds felt like the natural next step in his journey.
“What enticed me personally to accept the position is I love the game of football,” he said. “I have been blessed to coach with some amazing mentors over the years. Once I got the call from James Fisher and Bill Alexander, this was an opportunity to put my knowledge of offense to work and gain valuable experience at a professional level.”
That excitement only grew when he met Coach Gilliam and Coach Redmond. In Bauman’s words, it was the kind of instant connection that every coach hopes for — shared energy, shared vision, and a chance to build something that lasts.
He also knows none of it matters without the city behind it. “The fans are always the lifeblood of any sports organization,” Bauman said.

His message to Memphis is simple: stay tapped in. Follow the social media buildup. Watch this team take shape. And understand that what is coming is not minor league filler — it is high-speed, high-stakes football filled with players chasing NFL-level dreams and coaches pouring everything they have into the product.
If Dustin Bauman is right, the Memphis Hounds are not just asking for attention. They are getting ready to earn it — and Memphis may soon have a team built to match the city’s edge, pride, and hunger.
