After a torrential downpour in the Northwest Arkansas area, we now have learned the fate of the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship. Per the release sent to 4 Star Sports, the LPGA announced, after assessing the golf course, Pinnacle Country Club, that the course was deemed unplayable. Because of this, after consulting with the on-site meteorologist and course superintendent for forecast projections, the tournament will be reduced to an unofficial 18-hole event, which was completed after the first round played on Friday.
The league announced that the safety of the spectators, players, and volunteers remains the top priority, and this decision was based purely on this factor. Based on sources, 4 Star Sports has learned that the golf course has suffered 5.87 inches of rain within the last 48 hours. Below, we have provided the official statement provided to us by the LPGA.

“The course received 3.25″ of rain last night, and after having assessed the golf course and consulted with our meteorologist and superintendent, the golf course is unplayable. Based on the weather forecast for the remainder of today and all day Monday and Tuesday, it is highly unlikely that 36 holes could be completed to make it an official event. As a result, the decision has been made to cancel the remainder of the tournament, with only players’ 18-hole scores counting. The tournament will be unofficial with no CME points awarded.”
“More information about the purse distribution will come later today. For now, please know that our partners at Walmart and P&G have generously committed to paying out more than what’s required in the event of a tournament cancellation. In addition, they’ve also committed to ensuring every player receives compensation regardless of where they stand on the leaderboard after 18 holes of play. We want to thank Walmart and P&G for the unwavering support and partnership over the last 19 years in NW Arkansas. We are looking forward to the 20th anniversary in 2026.”

We at 4 Star Sports will have more information on updates as they are provided. Stay tuned for more updates from a wet weekend for the LPGA and a historic tournament on its tour.
