Ryan Silverfield Named To Dodd Preseason Watch List
As we near the start of the 2025 season, the award watch list across the nation is being unveiled. On Monday, we learned that Memphis Tigers head coach Ryan Silverfield was named to the 2025 Dodd Trophy Preseason Watch List. Silvefield is one of just two coaches from the American Athletic Conference to be named to the 26-coach national list.
This list was created through a selection process by the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and the Peach Bowl. With this, the Academic Progress Rate, or APR, Gradation Success Rate, also known as GSR, and commitment to service and charity in the community are all factored in as well as projected success in the upcoming 2025 season. The Tigers have had great success under Silverfield in his six seasons at the helm. Moreover, the success has not only been on the field but also in the community of Memphis.
We at 4 Star Sports learned this in an exclusive conversation with the Memphis Director of Player Relations, Lauren Hillman. Hillman not only oversees all personal and professional development but also is the face of the program around the city in outreach. She spoke transparently with us regarding the drive of Silverfield, staff, and roster to be seen in Memphis while also positively serving the community.

The Tigers are entering 2025 fresh off back-to-back double-digit winning seasons. As we have discussed, this is the first time this has happened in program history. The most recent bowl win was a 42-37 win over West Virginia at the Scooter’s Coffee Frisco Bowl. This bowl appearance marked the 11th consecutive for the Tigers and is the seventh-longest streak in the nation. In addition, this is the longest bowl appearance streak among the non-Power 4 programs.
We will soon learn how this season will unfold as the kickoff is on August 30, 2025, versus the Chattanooga Mocs. Will the Memphis fans support this Preseason Award Watch List coach and program that is making history?
