Top Talent On Move In Royals MiLB System

When will Jac Caglianone be called up?

The question that has been asked since Jac Caglianone was drafted is beginning to be answered. We received the news, via MLB Pipeline, that the Kansas City Royals had made roster moves. On a Sunday that began with Jonathan Bowlan being called up to the Royals, the nightcap would make waves throughout the MiLB system. At around 6 pm Central Time, it was announced that Caglianone had been promoted from the Double-A Northwest Arkansas Naturals to the Triple-A Omaha Storm Chasers. In addition to this blockbuster move, the Royals also moved Frank Mozzicato to the Naturals from the Quad City River Bandits. We will analyze the move and look deeper into what each can do to assist their new teams immediately.

Jac Is Packed For Omaha

As we have covered since opening night, Caglianone has been worth the price of admission while in Springdale for a short stint to begin his professional career. While in the NWA, “Cags” has demolished the opposing pitchers at the Double-A level. In addition, there was his meeting with Clayton Kershaw in his rehab assignment with the Tulsa Drillers early in the year,

In his 38 games played, Caglianone has 8 doubles, 9 home runs, and 43 RBI’s. In addition, Caglianone has a .322 batting average in 175 plate appearances along with 37 strikeouts at the plate. In the field, the 22-year-old has shown great versatility as he has excelled at first base and the outfield as he has logging games in both right and left field.

We have not seen any mound work from Caglianone this season, which makes his ascend to the MLB level impressive. The power at the plate is breathtaking to watch as the ball leaps off the bat. We expect a similar positioning of Jac in Omaha as he transitions to the next level.

While his run in Springdale is one fans and others will never forget he now has more pressure. With the step up in competition comes more eyes on the number one prospect. We saw great patience from the front office in Kansas City with Caglianone and we do not see this changing. In his time in the NWA, there was growth in numerous ways while adapting to the professional game. We will again see growth in Omaha as he brings instant excitement to this fan base.

NWA Has A Frank In Springdale

In addition to Caglianone being on the move we now look to the newest addition to the Naturals roster. The number 12 prospect is headed to Springdale with the promotion of Mozzicato. The 21-year old brings confidence on the mound as he has a 1,24 ERA as of this writing. While in High-A, Mozzicato has stifled opposing batters with a 1-0 record as well as the low earned runs.

In his 7 starts of 2025, Mozzicato has whiffed 37 batters while working in 36 innings. He has struck out more than a batter per inning and will need to work the walk rate down if possible, at the next level.

The number 7 pick of 2021 will be one to watch on what is a stacked pitching staff. For Naturals’ pitching coach, Larry Carter, he has to be excited to work with a young star of the Royals.

What Does Each Add To New Teams?

We described what each of these top talents has done in their time with their previous teams. In the case of Caglianone, he brings a wealth of talent with unbelievable power. We at 4 Star Sports have witnessed him effortlessly send the baseball out of Arvest Ballpark, and we expect the same in Omaha. More important than any talents, the Storm Chasers are getting a great young man. This is rare in today’s sports and is something that cannot go unnoticed.

With Mozzicato, the Naturals are getting a youthful experienced arm. The left hander is now in his fourth season professionally yet was drafted from high school in 2021. This will serve him and the Naturals well in this transition to Double-A. When will we see Mozzicato? With the Arkansas Travelers coming to town, on Tuesday, May 20th, for a six-game series in a tight division race, it could be very soon.

We will have more on each of these talents as they transition in their career paths.
