The Hangman Page Era Begins Now In AEW

Adam Page has done it! He has won the AEW World Championship for the first time since May of 2022.

In the main event of the All In Pay-Per-View, Page defeated Jon Moxley in a Texas Death Match before 25,671 fans inside Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas. The MLB baseball field was configured for a 27,232-seat capacity for the event, which, based on the attendance, was 94% filled. As we have previously discussed, Moxley, who won the title at WrestleDream from Bryan Danielson, has kept the championship belt in a briefcase since the October win.

The match was bloody and, at times, hard to watch. This included a litany of interference from seemingly every person from October to the event on Saturday night. We didn’t have to wait long for the violence as Page used a fork to stab Moxley repeatedly in the head, drawing blood. In all the mess within the ring, we also saw two returning wrestlers in the match.

Who Returned?

Just as Moxley was calling for a plastic bag to be placed over Page, we saw a video package from Darby Allin. This simple video distraction from Allin, filmed from Mount Everest, caught the attention of everyone, which provided the opportunity for Danieldson to return. From the corner of the ring, also in a Blue Panther mask, we saw the former AEW champion attack Moxley and others in the ring.

After seeing Daneildson, in what we thought was the moment of the night, Allin, who proclaimed in his video to ‘Take everything from Moxley’, then would plummet down from the rafters before delivering a Coffin Drop on Moxley, following a Buckshot Lariat from Page.

This is when we saw the Young Bucks interfere, which brought out Swerve Strickland, who assisted Page. Recently, we saw Page provide Strickland with a chain, which was returned on Saturday night. Swerve used this chain to attack the Bucks before handing it to Page.

How Did This End?

This is where the match took a drastic turn. With the chain in hand, Page wrapped it around the neck of Moxley. The champion then dangled over the ropes as his legs swung uncontrollably. Moxley, struggling to breathe, then submitted to Page as he tapped out.

Page then fell to the mat in emotion as he opened the briefcase to reveal the long, long championship belt. While holding the title over his head, we at 4 Star Sports noticed the side plates on the belt had not changed since Moxley won in October. This small storytelling is significant in this chase for Page.

What Is Next?

We now see the second reign of Page begin in AEW. Who will be his first title defense? How long will this last? Will we see Moxley return for revenge? These are all questions that Tony Khan and AEW will provide soon.
