SEC Sets Record With Packed Bracket

As we covered, the king of the SEC Tournament was the Vanderbilt Commodores. On Monday afternoon, Vanderbilt was named the overall number one seed in the 2025 NCAA Baseball Tournament. For the conference, the SEC has a record thirteen programs among the 64 teams in the region. We also saw eight programs selected by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee as hosts in the edition of the yearly event.

In addition to Vandy {42-16}, there are the number two-seeded, and regular-season champion, Texas Longhorns {42-12}, the number three-ranked Arkansas Razorbacks {43-13}, and the Auburn Tigers {38-18}, at number four. The list continues as the number six-seeded LSU Tigers (43-14) will host in Baton Rouge. This is followed by the number seven-ranked Georgia Bulldogs {42-15}, who host in Athens. To close out the programs, who will host are the number-ten ranked Ole Miss Rebels {40-19 } and the fourteen-ranked Tennessee Vols { 43-16}, also the defending national champions.

We also see other programs that will take to the road for their regional competition. The number three-seeded Kentucky Wildcats (29-24) are headed to Clemson, the Oklahoma Sooners (35-20) head to Chapel Hill and North Carolina, the Florida Gators (38-20) travel to Coastal Carolina, and Alabama Crimson Tide [41-16} makes the trek to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and the Southern Miss regional.

The regional games will begin on Friday, May 30th, and commence on the following Monday, June 2nd, if necessary, in the double-elimination style bracket. Winners of these regionals will either host or participate on the road in the Super Regional best-of-three series. The eight winners of the Super Regionals will advance to Omaha, Nebraska, and Charles Schwab Field.

Can the SEC continue their run of winning the National Championship? The road to the answer starts soon.
