Memphis Softball Adds History-Making International Flare To Roster
In more news from Memphis Softball, head coach Trena Prater announced the addition of another Tiger to the roster. This time, Prater looked internationally at the Swedish National Softball Team and Paris Brienesse of Stockholm, Sweden. Formerly of Angelo State, as well as UT-Arlington and Seward County Community College, Brienesse brings a wealth of experience to a young roster.
When speaking on the impact of the new Tiger, Prater said, “I believe that her leadership and energy will be something that our young team will thrive off of,” and following the success of last season, this will be key to watch as the 2025-26 season unfolds. In addition to experience, the Swede brings speed to the basepaths and outfield for Memphis.
Prater also spoke on this, stating, “She is going to bring speed on the base paths and experience to our outfield. Her relentless grit and love for the game will be fun to coach.”. With the culture change that has taken place in Memphis, players such as Brienesse will be key in the second stanza of the Prater era.
In her senior season at Angelo State, Brienesse appeared in 49 games, including 30 starts for the Rambelles. In these games, she had a .253 batting average, along with 22 hits, runs scored, and stolen bases. The stolen bases ranked 88th best in D2 and were essential in the 47-14 overall record for Angelo State.

There is more history being made positively under Prater, as Breinesse is now the second international player in Memphis Softball history. She joins Ellen Roberts, of Westleigh, Australia, who also ranks second in program history with 41 wins in the circle. Roberts played professionally after playing for the Tigers.
The Swedish National Team will again feature Breinesse on the roster in 2025 as she competes for them over the summer. The Women’s Softball European Championship will be held in Prague, Czech Republic, and we will have more information and results when the games are played.
