Arkansas Hockey Club Drops The Puck On 2025-26
The scrimmaging is over as the Arkansas Hockey Club drops the puck on the 2025 regular season. To launch the year, the Razorbacks welcome East Texas Baptist University for a weekend series. The Jones Center will be packed on Friday, September 5th, at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 3:15 pm. We will take a look at what fans can look forward to on the opening weekend for the D2 club.
A Season Of Strong Opponents
As Arkansas begins its slate of games, we felt the need to add some context to the level of competition faced. ETBU brings its own challenges to the opening weekend, yet looking deeper down the schedule, it gets tougher. On September 19th and 20th, the Razorbacks will welcome Iowa to the Jones Center in a must-see series.
To further the competition, the IceHogs will welcome Nebraska for a pair of matchups on October 10th and 11th. In some Southeastern Conference competition, Arkansas will battle Ole Miss in November. On the 7th and 8th, Arkansas will celebrate its Military Appreciation Night on the opening Friday game contest.
The Jones Center has made some upgrades as it celebrates its 30th year. This community center has been a great home-ice advantage for the Hogs, and this season looks to continue this trend. We expect standing room only in 2025, as this has been the case on home weekends in Springdale.

Roster Addition
Arkansas will look new to many who watch. This year’s roster is comprised of youth combined with returning experience from a deep run last season. Included on the roster is size, as Keller Sims made sure to address this during the offseason. Speaking of roster, we at 4 Star Sports learned of some interesting news from the American Collegiate Hockey Association (ACHA) that impacted the program.
In recent updates to eligibility rules from the ACHA, players who have competed in the Canadian Hockey League, including the OHL, WHL, and QMJHL, may now compete for ACHA programs. These players are cleared as long as they received no more than actual and necessary expenses during their CHL tenure. With this update, the Razorbacks have added defenseman Bryson Andregg.
The veteran spent four seasons with the Tri-City Americans and the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League. This addition marks a new era of the program, which includes a level of leadership and veteran presence in the club. Additionally, Andregg brings stability to a defense looking for a seasoned leader.
ETBU Comes To Town
As we discussed at the onset, the Razorbacks will welcome ETBU to kick-start the season. This will be a physical weekend that fans will need to be prepared for. Arkansas has built the roster to combat this, and this test will be a great way to start the slate. The Razorbacks push to start the season with success. The Jones Center will be the place to be all weekend in Springdale, Arkansas, as these teams clash.
The line will be long to enter, and the event has the potential to sell out. This is one of the many trends that has taken over this club over the last four seasons. The local community has fallen in love with this club, and East Texas Baptist University will be ready to ruin the weekend for Arkansas.
In closing, the upcoming season will be physical as always; it’s hockey. In the Jones Center, fans will be craving more as the Razorbacks skate on towards an ACHA Championship. The coaches and players will feed off the wild energy of the home crowds all season, and this begins this weekend.
